🌰 Tifinagh – Traditional Amazigh Moroccan Sweet



Tifinagh is a traditional Moroccan Amazigh dessert, usually made from honey, almonds, and sesame seeds. It’s commonly prepared for special occasions and celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup blanched almonds (or a mix of almonds and walnuts)

  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds (toasted)

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom water


Instructions

1️⃣ Toast nuts and sesame seeds

  • In a dry pan, lightly toast almonds and sesame seeds until fragrant. Let cool.

2️⃣ Prepare almond mixture

  • Grind the almonds coarsely.

  • Mix with toasted sesame seeds, sugar, and cinnamon.

3️⃣ Add honey

  • Warm the honey slightly and mix with orange blossom water.

  • Combine honey with the nut mixture until it forms a sticky paste.

4️⃣ Shape

  • Shape the mixture into small balls, discs, or traditional Amazigh patterns (triangles, diamonds, or special symbols).

5️⃣ Cool and serve

  • Let the sweets cool and harden slightly before serving.
